We installed an RSI SmartCap and Yakima Crossbars onto a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD. The RSI SmartCap is one of the strongest canopies in the industry constructed from steel it can support up to 330lbs of payload when moving, 770lbs when parked. The rooftop tent on top of the canopy is supported by the Yakima Skyline system that is held into place by the mounting channels built into the SmartCap.
We installed a track style canopy rack with water sport accessories onto a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado. The roof rack system we found that works best for fiberglass canopies is made by Rhino Rack. This installation required us drill through the canopy and install the track using bolts, nuts and silicone sealant. Once attached, the feet that we used are Rhino Racks RLT 600's paired with VA 165B crossbars which have channel mount capability. The water sport accessories include a Thule's Hull-a-port XT kayak carries (channel mounted) and the SupTaxi. The weight capacity for this setup is rated for 165lbs.
Yesterday we installed crossbars with ski and bikes racks onto a bed cover for a 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Trail Boss. The bed cover we used for this vehicle is the Retrax XR. This bed cover has channels that run along side the rail system that aloud the feet and crossbars to be attached. The bed covers weight capacity is rated for 500lbs and retracts into a cylinder that is closest to the cab. The crossbar setup we used is from Yakima using their Skyline feet and Jetstream crossbars that have channel mount capability. Attached to the crossbars is a Yakima FatCat 6 ski rack, this rack is made to carry up to 6 pairs of skis or 4 snowboards. Also attached to the crossbars is a Yakima HighRoad bike rack, this rack is made to carry one bike secured using a tire clamp platform.
